The Future?

I haven’t been raving enough about all the quality products and tools that Google continues to flood the internet world with. The latest addition is google maps. I predict that just as people refer to “searching for something online” as “googling” something, people will soon refer to “mapquesting” directions as “googling” as well. Google has put together quite a powerful and easy to use tool to look up maps, and directions. Currently in beta, and somewhere inbetween mapquest and Yahoo maps, Google Maps makes the maps extremely easy to read and fun to use. I hope to see saveable locations and also traffic conditions on the map just as Yahoo Maps just added a few months ago.

It’s almost scary how Google has come in and changed the way that the majority of the online community completes a simple task such as searching, or emailing. First came a better search engine. Better than Yahoo, better than askjeeves, metacrawler, etc. Then their webmail app Gmail, rethought out with innovative ideas and features improved almost every aspect of the classic webmail, which has in my opinion blown away yahoo mail, and hotmail. Check out this flash movie, which just is kind of like Conan’s “In the Year 2000″ skit, but with slightly more realistic predictions is this site about Google and its conquest to organize the world’s information. The 8 minute movie even goes so far as 2014 to show Googles dominance over the world in a predicted Supreme Court case Googlezon vs. The New York Times…worth checking out.

Happy Valentines Day!
