Google Twin Obsession?
I saw this article on digg today, which hits the same topic as my post a couple weeks ago. While my name is fairly common, I still sit on top of Google’s search for my own name.
I noticed jeffreychin.com about four years ago, when I was looking for a domain name. I was reminded of my Google Twin after another Jeff Chin wrote the article on the Google Blog and quickly added him as a friend on myspace. He wrote back, and laughed about how many of “us” there are on the internet. Like the article suggests, how many people actually meet their “Google twin” after following them online for so long. It would definitely be weird and probably end up breaking the universe as we know it.
Well, I’d better start now if I want to meet them all:
St. Patrick’s Day
Ouch.
That about sums up Sunday morning and afternoon for me. We grabbed a table at Ragtime around 5pm and didn’t leave until 1am, or so I’m told. NCAA Tourney, car bombs and green beer have never flowed so freely.

Death of Internet Radio?
Not to bring everyone down again with another “Death of…” post, especially on St. Patrick’s Day…but…
The RIAA has come down hard on all internet radio because they don’t pay royalties to the artists. While there needs to be a way to compensate the artists for their music, there’s probably a better way than back-charging the thousands of internet radio stations. I heard on The Junkies the other morning, that the guy that runs their website also has his own internet radio station, and will probably have to declare bankruptcy to avoid the $450k fine that the RIAA has put on him.
With no internet radio, discovering new artists would be a lot harder and eventually hurt the music industry more than they realize. The two main stations that I listen to at work religiously fall under this category too, Pandora.com and AOL Radio. Please sign the petition that Pandora and gang has set up, and if you’re really motivated send a letter to your congressman as well. Let’s hope internet radio survives this attack.

Collections > Sets
Yesterday Flickr announced here that you will be able to group your sets together into “collections”. More details and gripes are highlighted here. This wasn’t the first feature that I wanted added to Flickr functionality (add titles and captions to slideshows next please!), but it’s definitely a good worthy upgrade to the service. This is awesome because while having a Pro account and the ability to group your pictures into sets is great, eventually your sets are going to grow out of control.
I’ve piled up >60 sets or so over the last couple years, but I’ve neatly categorized each one of them into one of six collections. They’ve made a cool new “mosaic” icon to represent collections, so go ahead and re-discover some of my older sets though each collection.
