My Dream
There was one glorious summer where I worked at the Burke Lake Ice Cream Parlour. I got to eat all the ice cream, soda, milkshakes and hot dogs I could stand. I also got to watch The Price is Right. Every day. I used to dream of being on the show, and bid on all the items and the showcase showdowns with my friends/coworkers. The dream was to win both showcases. This guy achieves my dream and more…(results start @ 5:12 if you’re impatient like me) Drew Carey sucks compared to Bob Barker – what a lackluster reaction!
Picasa for Mac
I have been waiting for this piece of software for a while. After using a Windows based machine for the majority of my life, I grew to love using Picasa as my photo organizer. It allows me to manage pictures very easily, and doesn’t hide the source files or edited files from me. Now that I use a Mac, I’ve had to use iPhoto for the past year. It’s a much more frustrating experience compared to Picasa, and I just never got the hang of it. The major difference is the way that the programs handle file editing/original file management. Barring any major errors, Picasa 3 is my new photo manager!

Here are some things that I’ve found to help out with my internet addiction:
- WSJ Mobile Reader. I haven’t downloaded anything for my blackberry in a while. I’m jealous that iPhone users get all these fun apps to play around with, so I decided to look around. I found the WSJ Mobile Reader. This has been an addictive app because it has multiple tabs with customizable content. Many of the tabs are for WSJ content, but on one tab you can easily add keyword search via Google or Yahoo News. Another tab lets you add your own feeds and creates a constantly updating feed with whatever sites you read the most. It keeps track of if you’ve read it or not so you don’t end up reading stories over and over as well as letting you mark things to read later, bookmark on facebook, delicious, or email yourself the article to read once you get back to your desk.
- Poynt Beta. This is another BB app that helps with local search, movies and directions. You can search based on a zip code or GPS location (a la Urban Spoon iPhone app) although I haven’t gotten it to pick up my GPS location successfully yet. It’s the most slick looking app for blackberry that I’ve seen (aka not many).
- Mozilla Ubiquity. This is a nerdy one. It’s a add-on for Firefox, but it allows you to do a variety of commands right from the page you’re viewing. It’s a little hard to explain, so check out this video, or this blog post for more details. I just installed it, but can imagine that this will become more useful as people create some interesting commands.
Have you found anything you think I’d be interested in lately?

Can you pick out the random ones? (#5, #4, #1) These all resulted in viewing the Halloween Kegger 2005 Pix, but search volume was too low overall to push it into the top 10. Also that post received the bulk of traffic during the Halloween season of 2007:
Those Darn Skins
The season is over, and we ended the year at a boring 8-8. I do think that Jim Zorn did pretty well despite the crash and burn in the second half of the year. He brought fire and emotion back to the sideline that the second coming of Gibbs never even came close to showing. Our defense had a phenomenal year (thanks to the pro-bowl snubbed London Fletcher, and rookie standout Horton), while the offense struggled to score in the double digits each week.
There are obvious gaps in how the Redskins are building the team. People blame Jason Campbell, but what quarterback could make throws when linemen are busting through the line in under 2 seconds almost each play?! People blame Zorn for having Mike Sellers fail to smash it in from the 6 inch line, but that becomes pretty hard when your line doesn’t move the other team forward. It’s amazing Portis even came close to 1,500 yards this year. We are terrible at drafting and overpay for big names that don’t ever produce (favorable) results. Which brings us to the point of this post: Vinny Cerrato. Each year, we call for him to be fired. With Wikipedia, people are publicly documenting Cerrato’s shortcomings. This is awesome – if only Dan Snyder would listen.

Framed
I have had my Grandpa’s paintings ever since my Grandma passed away a few years ago. They didn’t really have nice frames on them, and finally after moving into my new place, I decided to put them into some nice frames. My Grandpa was self taught for all the crafts he was into: painting, carving, woodburning. My mom just told me that he learned to paint from books and paint by numbers. Eventually he moved up to doing large paintings. He did painted of these back in 1971. They used to be in make-shift frames, but now they’re finally in frames that do them justice.
Big O and Dukes
I love The Junkies. I also love Big O and Dukes. If you haven’t heard of them, check this out:

Fully Loaded Nachos
“Gonna try the fully loaded ‘chos from taco bell for lunch”
“May be a mistake! ‘Cho supreme is the best bang for the buck on the menu”
“You’re right, it was a letdown. Oh well.”
- Don and me texting me back and forth about Taco Bell’s $4 Fully Loaded Nachos. I’m sure they’re good, but you could buy 3 Nacho Supremes for that cost. Consider yourself warned!
Good Morning
This is one of my favorite things about my new place. I get to see this almost every morning when I wake up.
