When I went to San Diego a few years ago, each night we went out, I was pleasantly suprised by their no smoking in bars rule. And each morning I woke up without a hangover. At the time, I jokingly attributed feeling better in the morning to the great weather and not inhaling smoke while at bars. That feeling is coming soon to a bar near you.
If you haven’t experienced a smoke-free bar, you might not know what you’re missing. But starting next year, you’ll be able to in DC. The smoking ban passed almost unanimously 11-1 and “would apply immediately to all restaurant dining rooms and would be extended to bars, nightclubs, taverns and the bar areas of restaurants in January 2007.” Read all about it in the Washington Post.
